One-Week Jewellery-Making Workshop in Jaipur

Your seven-day learning journey

Days 1–2: Tools and metalwork

• Learn how to use jewellery-making tools and understand the properties of silver and other metals.
• Practise measuring, cutting, sawing, filing and shaping a simple band.

Day 3: Soldering and assembly

Learn how to join metal parts using heat, prepare your pieces for soldering and work with the tools and materials artisans use.

Days 4–5: Gemstone setting

• Measure a gemstone and make a bezel, a metal rim that holds the stone in place.
• Prepare the setting and learn how to secure the gemstone.
• Explore how gemstone shapes influence jewellery design.

Day 6: Explore Jaipur’s gemstone and jewellery trade

• Visit local markets to learn about gemstone varieties and how to choose materials.
• Where access is available, see how gemstones are cut and polished, and learn about jewellery production machinery.

Day 7: Finish your jewellery

• Refine your piece through filing, smoothing and polishing.
• Review your work with an artisan and learn how to check the finish and quality.

Your final project

Work towards creating a handmade silver ring with a bezel-set gemstone. This project brings together metalwork, soldering, gemstone setting and finishing. Your final design will depend on your learning pace, your choice of gemstone and your skill level.

What’s included in the ₹35,000 workshop fee?

• 35 hours of guided, hands-on learning over 7 days with experienced artisans.
• Use of workshop tools and equipment during your sessions.
• Practical lessons in metalwork, soldering, bezel making and gemstone setting.
• Guided market visits and an introduction to Jaipur’s jewellery industry.
• Making charges for jewellery you create during the workshop, plus guidance on finishing.

Materials charged separately

Silver for pieces you take home is not included in the workshop fee. It is charged at the current silver rate, based on its actual weight, plus a 10% allowance for silver lost during the making process. There are no additional making charges for jewellery created during the workshop.
